John Lupton
John is a children's artist, working in water colour and line, whose style echoes the mood of Arthur Rackham, while still being uniquely his own.
Unlike Bill Fleming and Douglas Carrel, John aims his work solely at the children's market. It is clear from images like The Friendly Lion, and The Tinder Box that he has a natural feel for the Dream Time that is childhood.
For this reason John's work appears only in the Children's and Linework pages, although there is a sense of humour also in much of his material which could at times make it suitable for more obviously humorous subjects.
Among John's published works are Maisie, the Girl who lost her Head (Collins), Ruby Red (Collins), The Tinder Box (Librairie Du Liban) and The Witches House (St Martin's Press). He has also illustrated extensively for various Enid Blyton publications, and is a skilled comic book artist.
