Douglas Carrel

Douglas is a highly talented linework and colour artist. Although his material is more suited to children's illustration, it crosses over into adult at times, as well, in the same way that Mad magazine appeals to all ages.

We are not using mad in the sense of a confused reality, but more that inebriation of the funny bone that allows us to see humour in the direst situations. However bizarre Douglas's creations are, they will always make you smile.

One only need look at Vile Villains (Children's page) to see how even the worst characters in history can keep our interest and our sense of humour at the same time.

Not all of Douglas's creations are as wacky. See his wonderful linework version of Gandalf at Bag End in the Tolkien page, and the drawings from Myth Busters in the Children's page. See also his cover for Cool Spot goes to Hollywood in the Games page.

Among Douglas's work has been linework and cover art for Fantasy Stories (Robinson), linework for Myth Busters (Puffin), colourwork for Spine Chiller magazine, and linework for a series of books for Pan MacMillan.
