Keith Scaife

Like Mark Salwowski, Keith Scaife was also responsible for one of the best early Ian M Banks covers, Player of Games.

Originally a model maker, Keith makes models of whatever strange machines the brief calls for, in order to light and photograph them correctly. This gives his machinery an authentic feel. Like the best SF artwork, these machines look as if they could actually fly.

Software (Roc) is a fine example of this. See also Personal Work 1.

Keith's cover for Tiger! Tiger!, the Alfred Bester classic, is included in the SF Gallery, as is Dream Park (Larry Niven).

On a quite different note, see Peter Pan (Children's) a charming evocation of winter and magic, and The Little Prince.

In addition to hardware, Keith is also an excellent landscape artist, with work like The Little Country (Pan) and The Seer King (Little Brown).

On a darker note, see Rivverun and Covenant With the Vampire.
