Mike Posen's seminal early covers for Arthur, Merlin and Taliesin (see Fantasy gallery) 's helped to launch Stephen Lawhead's literary career. Commissioned by Lion Books U.K. they were subsequently taken up by Avon in the U.S. and are still in print today.
Mike's association with Stephen Lawhead continued with the more recent Iron Lance and Black Rood (Voyager). Black Rood was one of Mike's first digital artworks.
His covers for the C J Cherryh novels Cloud's Rider and Rider at the Gate (Hodder) were also picked up in the U.S. (Warner Aspect), who subequently commissioned The Barbed Coil (J.V. Jones).
On a lighter side, see Mike's humorous artworks for Legend of Kyrandia (Virgin Int.) in Game Covers and 101 Damnations (Andrew Harman) in Humour. Also the Dynamite Headdy material.
Mike's skill with landscape, figures and animals enables him to tackle a wide range of subjects. An ability to convey heroine's who look capable and yet feminine, also means his work often appeals as much to women as it does to men.
Like most of our artists, Mike now produces artwork on disc, using a combination of digital and painted work to achieve his result.
